Tips
- .TIP: Airport transfer from london
I've just become aware of a rather bemusing strategy by BAA owners of Heathrow for people overnighting at Heathrow Hotels. A few years ago now Heathrow banned the free hotel shuttles citing traffic congestion at Heathrow. So they introduced the Hoppa Bus which runs at best every 15 minutes and does a milk round of the airport hotels - last count 19 of them. The innocent visitor is fleeced £5 return or £3 single for this "service" - compare this with the cheaper hotels room rate of £40 at weekends and a couple is paying 25% of the room rate for transfers. Nearly all the hotels are located along the Bath Road serviced by frequent public buses - more frequent then the Hoppa Bus anyway. For this service BAA subsidises all public transport journeys around the airport to the extent that these services are FREE. Of course if you're a visitor all the advertising only mentions the Hoppa Bus costing £5 per person. - .TIP: Hotel Tip from muban
If you go to Victoria Station in central London, outside is the hotel booth, they will book a hotel for you. Ask for bed and breakfast in Victoria, the rooms are from 30 pounds up. Victoria is 10 minutes from central London on the 24 bus. You will pass Westminster Abbey, parliament etc. Buckingham Palace is around the corner, enjoy... the rooms are clean.

- Temple Church
Here are eight hundred years of history: from the Crusaders in the 12th century, through the turmoil of the Reformation and the founding father of Anglican theology, to some of the most famous church music in London. The Church was built by the Knights Templar, the order of crusading monks founded to protect pilgrims on their way to and from Jerusalem in the 12th century. The Church is in two parts: the Round and the Chancel. The Round Church was consecrated in 1185 by the patriarch of Jerusalem. It was designed to recall the holiest place in the Crusaders' world: the circular Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
